2008 in retrospect, welcoming 2009

In April 2008 you celebrated the launch of Itsme with us, and wished us luck for the journey ahead. Since then, we defined the interaction modalities of the Stories and Venues Metaphor and gave the Venue a tangible status. Further to our scenario explorations & testing, we invited you to “come design Itsme with us”, evaluated our concept and carried out intense research on software requirements. We held several seminars and participated in 4 major conferences- Frontiers of Interaction in Turin, Research to Business in Bologna, Festival Della Creatività in Florence, and SMAU in Milan and got acknowledged by the Perrotto committee with a special mention at WCC (World Computer Conference). We also shared the project and vision with our friends in the US, who gave us a positive feedback and a big green signal. A small number of friends who encouraged us to envision Itsme in April have now grown to big groups on Linkedin and Facebook. We would like to thank all that made it possible.

2008 was the calm before the storm.

2009 is going to be, as Giorgio puts it, “a geometric explosion of complexity” for us. An exciting milestone in our activity of workstation development as we move ahead from the initial design phase to the development and prototyping phase. We also intend to increase participatory design activities with our community in the coming year, through workshops, seminars and discussion forums including one of our own. A lot of challenges await us in the coming year, and we are grateful to have you with us to overcome them all, together.

Here’s wishing you all a wonderful holiday and a prosperous 2009.

Best wishes from Itsme
