Nowadays being updated is a must. The answer to this need is quite clear in our everyday routine: we use smartphones to be always ready for our business, to “make online things” and surely to enjoy staying in touch with our friends on most-rated social networks like facebook, twitter or flickr. Basically we are online from our most common places (aka office, home, university, gym, etc…) and we are online also during our “journey-time” (train, metro and so on) thanks to latest communication protocols, giving a real demonstration on what in the IT Science is called “ubiquitous computing”.
Now, reply to this question: which is the hottest business sector not yet reached from social enhancements? Yes, you are right: automotive. For sure your smartphone is near you while you are locked in a traffic crowded city but you cannot use it due to clear safeness reasons. However cars manufacturers are on the wave and they demonstrated their latest technologies during last CES 2010. Here right two samples that I found very interesting:
- Continental AutoLinQ: an open architecture capable of leveraging the Google Android Market Place as well as other internet ecosystems

- Ford’s “MyFord” : a revamped dashboard that brings the intuitive nature of cellphones and MP3 players to automobiles, enhancing the interface of popular Sync infotainment system

Is this a definitive solution to in-car-socialize? How can itsme complete this vision with its stories and venues?
