Itsme and Guerrilla Marketing
Our prototype is nearing completion(April) and we want to gear up to spread the word about the new itsme workstation so that our prototype can be tried and tested not only by the exisiting community but many many more. Itsme workstation is a symbol of innovation and creativity and we want to transmit the same values in the way we promote the project. With regards to this we are starting to find new ideas to reach people , and one of the directions that we must not ignore is of guerrilla marketing , unconventional and original advertising, potentially interactive, where consumers...

David, new itsme intern
Hi everyone! I'm David, a student of Theory and Technology of Communication at University of Milano-Bicocca and I'm starting my student internship in ITSME as "advertising & communication adept". During my apprenticeship I will analyze the community aspects and key factors to develop alternative communication/marketing strategies, both offline and online, to enlarge the ITSME community and to growth its brand awareness. For every candidate strategy I will speak with the community, to search for collaboration or feedback (this is very very important) about it. In the next weeks  I will probably also publish a survey online, to know something more...

Let me recommend you an interesting panel that will take place in Milan next Wednesday (Feb. 24th – 9.30 at DISCO, viale Sarca 336). Giorgio De Michelis and Alfonso Fuggetta will discuss about their latest paper "ICT e Innovazione: che fare?". The authors will discuss with Giancarlo Capitani, Roberto Galimberti, Roberto Masiero, Renzo Turatto and possibly some others. More info available on DISCo's Website and at: www.alfonsofuggetta.org/?p=7067 and www.irso.it/new/index.php/cantieri/81-italia-2013. If you happen to be in Milan, it could be a nice chance to visit us (our company is right behind the Department of Informatics) and talk with us. If you'd...

Itsme@FOSDEM2010
The Itsme expedition has just come back from Bruxelles, where I and three other developers from the Tech team had a great time at FOSDEM 2010. After a friday evening spent sightseeing that wonderful city, on saturday morning we reached the ULB Campus and joined the party with hundred of techies. It's been hard to choose which talks to follow among the huge schedule, composed by 200+ lectures spread in dozen of rooms, and in the end we attended many talks more or less related to the Itsme universe: some of us preferred Drupal, some others Mozilla, we...

Yesterday evening we presented the latest version of the itsme prototype to CSCW2010 participants. We think we captured their attention and got very interesting feedback, but I won't write about that. I think it's more interesting to write a brief report about what was new in our prototype, compared to the last we showed online and during other demos. We have a brand new way to deal with email: beside the preview-based approach, allowing to send new messages very quickly, we have now integrated Mozilla Thunderbird, so that users can use it to access all system mail (the standard way to...

Poster at CIorg, a brief report
We've participated in the Collective Intelligence for Organizations workshop at CSCW2010: many different visions and approaches have been presented by the various speakers (you can read the selected papers here) and several interesting discussions have taken place. Besides presentations, the participants have been split in different groups in order to discuss the problems related to defining a research agenda for Collective Intelligence (here the summary of the discussion). We really noticed that our proposal of working on workstations to achive a higher level of contribution to Collective Intelligence implicitly applies to, and could improve, every other proposal or...

Backstage…
When we talk about the itsme project, its updates and so on we sometimes forget people that are hard-working to push this incredible adventure from a "strange, crazy idea" to something we can call "a product". A live-shot that I took 5 minutes ago during an important...

Complementing Collective Intelligence
On Saturday, Giorgio and I will participate in the "Collective Intelligence for Organizations" workshop at CSCW 2010. We will present a position statement, expressed in this paper, saying that Collective Intelligence can happen only if individuals have workstations that help them having everything in the right place at any moment. Abstract: In this position paper, we suggest a different approach for fostering the capability of human beings to develop Collective Intelligence, that may appear counter-intuitive. We think, in fact, that the performances of systems supporting Collective Intelligence are mainly affected by the current status of the workstations...

Spreading news about FSter
On January 12th we released FSter, Guglielmo's Virtual File System. Since then, besides carrying on the implementation, we have been fostering and monitoring online discussions about it. Moreover, we have taken the opportunity offered us by Tracker guys to give a very short presentation about FSter at FOSDEM 2010 in Bruxelles. If you happen to be there next weekend (February 6-7), why not stop and talk with one of the four members of the itsme team that will be there? Lorenzo, Bob, Michele, and Fabio will be extremely glad to answer all your questions about our projects. Here's an extended verion...
